In keeping with the logistical goal
of Service To Servants, we help to move information into and out of Liberia for the benefit of Christian
organizations working within Liberia. One of these organizations is
Restoration of Educational Advancement Programs (REAP).
The founder and president of REAP is
Christine Tolbert Norman, daughter of the late William R. Tolbert,
former president of the Republic
of Liberia. Christine has a great desire to see
the youth of Liberia
given the opportunity to obtain a quality education, relevant job
skills training and life skills to enable them to become productive
citizens.
To provide opportunities to
disadvantaged youths, Christine is attempting to resurrect a dream of
her father’s which includes the restoration and operation of the William
Richard Tolbert, Jr. Indigent Children Empowerment and Resource Center (the “Center”).
The Center is located on 50 acres of
land approximately 30 miles outside of Monrovia, Liberia. The property is lush, rolling
countryside near the town of Bensonville
(changed to Bentol many years ago in honor of President Tolbert). There are coconut trees planted on
several acres and 5 buildings which are structurally sound for major
refurbishment. The first need is to obtain the
funds required to transfer the property into a trust for use by REAP. Very soon after that the Liberian
government will require proof of use for its intended purpose which
will necessitate the refurbishment of at least one building.
The
following sections contain a description of each building along with
pictures and plans for the refurbishment.

Unit 1 Multi-purpose Facility – Gymnasium sized facility with
dining and kitchen space.

Property Usage (50 acres) –
30 acres of land will be allotted to agricultural
activities. This will produce food and related products to benefit the
orphans and indigent youth and young adults.
The concept of self-sustainability and the
feeding of the orphans and indigent youth and young adults will be the
primary focus of this portion of land.
The initial plan is to develop a piggery project and to grow
diversified crops like cassava, corn, tomatoes, eddoes, plantains,
vegetables, pineapples, bananas, peanuts etc.
The 10 acres where several de-roofed structures
are currently located will be used for empowerment and resource related
activities for the orphans and the indigent youth and young
adults. REAP’s initiative is to
attract sponsors and partners willing and able to assist with the
restoration, revitalization and implementing the concept of the center.
The
last 10 acres of land will be used for a playground and the creation of
a mini-zoo that will raise and maintain domestic animals.
