Day 15 – Friday, 6/18

Comments

The end has come, and I’m sad to announce that today we spent our last full day in Liberia. It was a beautiful day full of rest, laughter and learning.

The morning began with the group traveling over to P.A.’s Ribhouse for the Senate breakfast. Neil Anderson, Judy King, Senator John Ballout and his family, along with other dignitaries attended the breakfast to give glory to God and fellowship.

For the next few hours we ate a traditional Liberian breakfast of sweet potatoes, cassava, fish and coffee, fellowshipped, worshipped and listen to Neil Anderson speak on freedom in Christ. It was a truly rewarding time, and our team feels incredibly honored and blessed to have been invited.

During our breakfast, Neil Anderson gave a short summary of his testimony along with what led him to start Freedom in Christ Ministries. His story reflected that it’s only in times of surrender that we are fully free in Christ. Like most of us, we must be stripped of everything before we are able to trust and give the Lord everything. It was truly inspiring.

After the prayer breakfast, we finally had a few hours to rest and relax. The group took the time to read, hangout and take a quick nap before dinner.

Around 4 p.m., the group traveled to a Lebanese restaurant to eat dinner with a few members of Orphan Relief & Rescue. We were in HEAVEN. The food was not only delicious, but it was the first time in 2 weeks that we didn’t have rice and pineapple. Also, it was a great time for us to bond as a team one last time, along with our new friends.

We finished up with dinner, said our goodbyes and thought we were going to go to a former warlord’s house to hear his story. However, the Liberian traffic changed our plans. Through a serious of unfortunate events, including being pulled over by a policeman for taking a picture of the traffic and sitting at standstill for 2 hours, we ended up back at the compound.

The group then took our debriefing time to write encouraging notes to one another. Yet again, I feel blessed to have taken part of this wonderful team. We’ve experienced and learned so much about ourselves and the character of Christ during the past two weeks. I believe it will take months or years to completely understand Liberia’s impact on our lives.

Thank you for reading. God Bless!
