Somewhere after leaving Abidjan it became today.  Overnight flights can be a little disconcerting.  There was something great that happened on this flight however.  It was nearly empty.  I had a complete center section to myself!  It was better than first class since I could completely stretch out all 6’2” and sleep.  What a deal.

They fed us a small sandwich on the 1 hour flight from Monrovia to Abidjan last night.  Then they fed us a full dinner shortly after takeoff so I was quickly saturated with heavy food.  They do this to make you sleepy so you will not bother them during the night.  It works.  Shortly before landing they gave us a Danish with orange juice and coffee/tea.  It never occurred to me that I could simply say “no” to any of these meals that I choose.

Arriving in Brussels has become routine and simple.  You don’t have to take your shoes off here which, after a long flight, is probably a good thing.

I had signed up for some internet time in Chicago O’Hare on the way over using a service called Boingo.  There was still some time left and I was able to get connected in Brussels.  That’s great because at the internet café here in the airport they charge 20 Euros for the day.

So, for now, I’m sitting her updating the journal and waiting 11am (it’s 7:25am here right now).
