Ken is a big hit with the children.  A camera is an instant child magnet.

Ken in our room before breakfast this morning.

A sideways shot of our personal bathroom complete with mirror and running water.

Christine’s home.

A look toward the back of the property.

The living room area of the guest house where we are staying.

I knew Gayla would want to see these chairs up close so here’s a picture from the front.

They are portable in that you simply pull out the seat and lay them flat together.

The chair from the back.

The pump fed water system at The Lord’s Prayer orphanage.  Notice the cistern at the bottom which catches rain water from the roof so they don’t have to pump during the rainy season.

Katie and Dion going to the chapel building.

A huge poured slab area that will become a future building for the orphanage.

The boy’s dorm

The girl’s dorm

Another view of one of their well maintained buildings.

Ridge acting spiritual in the chapel (the key work is “acting”)

The girl’s dorm sink area.

Girls’ toilets on the right and showers on the left.

One of the bathrooms.

One of the showers.

Kent and the gang going to look at the farm project.

This will become a secured chicken house.  On Christmas Eve thieves broke in and stole all 100 chickens and killed two of their hogs.

Somebody’s looking for food.

Gus is John’s right hand man, an engineer and in pursuit of his masters in engineering.  A month ago he was lecturing in Beijing, China.

Part of the school.

A front view of the school buildings.

A view out the back at their Cassava farm.

Ridge trying to determine what American plant Cassava resembles.

A neighboring farm in the distance that looks like a big producer.  The desire is to make each orphanage as self-sufficient in food production as possible.

The children singing to us for a greeting.

Ridge handing out lollipops.

The enjoyment of candy is a rare treat when basic food is difficult to find.

Katie, Dion and two new friends.

The water pump at a different orphanage.  Notice the safety of a sealed well head.

This is the only cat I’ve seen in Liberia so far.

These boys were offended that I would take the cat’s picture without taking theirs so I acquiesced.  (That means “gave in” for all you Southerners whom my California friends think are all rednecks.)

Ken having some fun with the kids.

The boys were telling their ages and what position they played on the football (soccer) team.

This little girl was an absolute doll.
